Abstract

A precipitation hardening process was carried out on a 7xxx series aluminum alloy, resulting in changes in its mechanical properties. GuinierPreston zones were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and valuable data was collected through metallographic tests and hardness tests. These results demonstrate that it is possible to improve the properties of complex aluminum alloys using thermal treatment methods and mechanical testing available at UNAH.
