Abstract

It is described a didactic tool designed to complement the study of electromagnetic fields varying with the time. The tool, denominated MODELEC, is a set of applications developed in EJS (a simulation’s environment based Java), that show the evolution of the undimensional planes electromagnetic waves, and the sequence of electrical and magnetics fields varying in time, generated in a rectangular waveguide.

MODELEC is an ideal tool be used as a complementary option in the study of Electromagnetic Theory’s topics related with flat waves and resonance caves. This tool allows visualize details of the waves resulting from the electromagnetic fields generated from a moveless point source, while they propagates in both directions along one axe, it also simulates the electromagnetic fields generated from rectangular waveguide, allowing the visualization of the different propagating modes produced inside of this resoning caves, the TMmn and TEmn modes; the user interface includes options to change the considered parameters values and the inmediat effect of these changes can be observed on the produced waves.
