Abstract

In this work the second virial coefficient using the classical approach is calculated as the argon gas that is selected has a thermal length wave less than the diameter of collision and quantum effect is negligible. The potential used to calculate the second virial coefficient is the potential of Lennard-Jones, the results obtained are compared with experimental coefficients reported in the scientific literature, the theoretical results are very similar to the experimental in fact are within the experimental error. Equations for the second coefficient is calculated using least squares, since by these equations can be calculated thermodynamic properties of interest. Finally some critical properties are calculated using the second virial coefficient.
