Alternatives for automating loan and consultation services
case of the Library and Newspaper Library Specialized in History of the General Archive of the Nation of El Salvador

Automation in libraries allows services to be competitive in a changing world. The need to automate the circulation and lending services of the Library and Newspaper Archive Specialized in History from the General Archive of the Nation of El Salvador (AGN) was detected because the processes were carried out manually due to lack of adequate tools. With the objective of exploring automation strategies for circulation and lending services in Salvadoran libraries, this research was carried out using a qualitative methodology, at an exploratory level, with the topic being little faced in the last 5 years and with a research design of field. 3 virtual interviews were carried out with 3 experts in the field with the support of the semi-structured interview technique and the interview guide instrument which was designed with structured questions that allowed free responses to discover more information. The data was collected through Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, the audio was transcribed into text with the help of Voice Typing from Google Drive Documents and the information was analyzed with the support of a matrix of 4 categories and 16 subcategories emptied. in WeftQDA software. The finding was that the most mentioned terms by the 3 experts were Library Management Systems (10 times), Hybrid Automation (6 times), Cloud Server (5 times), Training (5 times) and Koha (5 times). ), which allows us to conclude that the automation strategy suitable for implementation in the AGN Specialized History Library and Newspaper Archive is the open source library management system, in this case the most mentioned is Koha, and it is also recommended to protect the information within cloud servers and train library staff to ensure the success of the strategy.
