Abstract

Tomato production suffers from viruses transmitted by the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). Since these viruses cannot be controlled directly, the only way left for farmers is to prevent their transmission. In this study, four varieties that were exposed to open fields were compared, using a quantitative experimental study, with a randomized Complete Block design and a Duncan test to classify the varieties from the most resistant to the least. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Coatepeque, department of Santa Ana during the dry season (summer). Finally, 2 varieties were recommended to be planted in open fields and the other 2 in a protected manner.
