Labor productivity: A look at the needs of SMEs in México

This article offers an analysis of theorical and conceptual elements about labor productivity of the SMEs in Mexico and addresses the role of government programs to contribute to increase the labor productivity. In this country, ECLAC (2001) and OECD (2017) point out that there is still a latent need to increase the participation of the programsand their diffusion. Therefore, criticize the little evidence about the real impact of current policies for future implementation. For that, it reviews various publications of international organisms like the ILO (2018) on labor, education and training policies promoted in the Latin American region, and which are focused on increasing productivity, especially for the staff working in SMEs, it also uses census data, surveys and Mexican government institutions like INEGI (2016) , STPS (2020) and the productivity survey of (ENAPROCEDE) to comment on the effectiveness of the funding, advisory support and certification programs aimed at raising the labor productivity and national economy.
