Abstract

This research article focuses on the feasibility study for the equipment of laboratory No. 2 (L2), at the University of Sonsonate, where the practical part of the Industrial Technology II course is carried out, and deals with the feasibility of implementing conventional machining machine tools and computer numerical control (CNC). The main objective is to perform a strategic analysis and evaluate the financial considerations to determine the feasibility of establishing a laboratory equipped with both types of machines. The final goal is to provide a practical guide for those wishing to establish or improve a machine and tool laboratory. Equipment of conventional and CNC machines is a topic of interest in the manufacturing industry. This article is aimed at evaluating the feasibility of equipping a laboratory containing both types of machines. Case studies, previous research, and the opinions of experts in the field are analyzed. The results indicate that this equipment can be a viable option in certain scenarios, but some important limitations and considerations must be taken into account.
