The objective was to determine the economic, social and cultural conditions that contribute to overweight and obesity in childhood and adolescence and the degree of effectiveness of public policies in health care in the municipalities of San Luis del Carmen and
The rosary. The approach was qualitative, establishing the magnitude of the problem and its impact on overweight and obesity, non-communicable diseases, but without considering the causes that cause and explain this situation. A survey was administered for the study of cases and focus groups in order to deepen the analysis of the causes that influence overweight and obesity in childhood and adolescence. From the results, it is concluded that the most common in both municipalities are: excessive advertising of ultra-processed foods and carbonated drinks, lack of food education
among the student population and awareness among family managers, which denotes the need to strengthen a strategy to promote healthy eating and environment. Likewise, the sale of unhealthy food in school cafeterias has not been completely eradicated, the comfort of family leaders in not preparing healthy food for their children and choosing to buy junk food, sedentary lifestyle and the perception that food unhealthy is cheap.
