Since its origins, in November 2019 in Wuhan China, Covid-19 went from being a local respiratory disease to a disease of global concern declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in January 2020. Other pandemics of respiratory type such as the Spanish flu in 1914-1919; the Asian flu, in 1957; and the 1968 Hong Kong flu share the common feature of their rapid spread among the population, an aspect that the "new coronavirus" has overcome, spreading faster and more strongly, thus posing a greater threat.
