Oral diseases are a public health problem worldwide. Dental caries is undoubtedly the most prevalent oral disease within the population, affecting both sexes and different age groups. The objective of this research was to determine epidemiological indices of dental caries in the Oral Health Project of the CDI La Gran Comisión of the San Isidro los Planes canton in San Salvador. The research approach was quantitative; an analysis of the records of children treated from 2014-2022 was carried out, in which 177 diagnostic files were reviewed, and indicators of prevalence of dental caries, cariogenic indices and bacterial plaque were determined to diagnose the state of oral health in the community. It was found that the dental caries indexes in primary dentition were 8.96, in permanent dentition 4.13 and the O'Leary index was 53.12%. In conclusion, it is observed that the prevalence of dental caries in the population is 91%, the cariogenic risk in primary dentition is classified according to the World Health Organization as a very high risk and the risk in permanent dentition was classified as a moderate risk in the population of children at the CDI La Gran Comisión.
