Surveillance systems allow monitoring, evaluation and orientation of health services towards the achievement of quality.
In this sense, the UEES Faculty of Dentistry created a system to measure student performance and compliance with the study programs for dental practices of the Doctorate in Dental Surgery to be executed in 4 phases.
The variables to be monitored were the degree of compliance with the hours of practice for each level of the clinic and the treatments valid per subject performed in patients with whom the required hours are obtained. It was found for level II and III, that the subject of Diagnosis showed a compliance of the programs of 95.45% and oral surgery 100%.
On the other hand, Periodontics showed 68.19% for level II and 65% for level III.
Depending on the complexity of treatments at level II, 59.2% of mild treatments, 26.2% moderate and 14.6% severe were found.
At level III, 52.7% of mild treatments, 22% moderate, 16% severe and 9.3% surgeries were reported.
The management body had evidence and was able to measure the effectiveness of the corrective actions taken.
Until this date, there was no order in the Faculty to collect data that allowed an objective interpretation.
With this system, the existing academic monitoring standard at national and international level was exceeded.
It is recommended to follow up on the project to relate academic, financial variables and establish epidemiological profiles.
