Abstract

Obesity is an excessive accumulation of fat in the body's fatty tissues, which can be a serious health hazard; It is also defined as a chronic disease of multicausal etiology. The objective of the study to determine the prevalence of obesity, risk factors for developing pathologies, worked with a sample of 13 men and 29 women corresponding to 79.2% of the total employees of the Faculty of Medicine. Among the main findings it was found that the prevalence of obesity occurs more in women. In general there is a prevalence of inadequate eating habits. Taking into account the waist / hip indicator, 45% have a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
