Abstract

The results of the study reflect that the majority of business representatives appreciate "medium" professional training capacity in the country's universities, considering very little the ability to conduct research and other types of business support, although they appreciate a higher level of capacity in about 4 universities; consider that this effect is due to the lack of compliance between both sectors, since only 12.9% of companies surveyed maintain some relationship with universities and of these, 2.5% have formal agreements; paradoxically, they say that in universities there is a great theoretical but not practical capacity. This fact reveals that companies as well as universities have not approached sufficiently to meet common needs; however, most companies show inheres to begin; continue or expand a link with universities because they believe they could obtain mutual benefits through the exchange of experiences. The objectives proposed in this study were aimed at:
Know the perceptions that entrepreneurs have of the research and training skills of professionals from the universities of El Salvador.
Explore the interests of entrepreneurs to develop joint work of university-business cooperation.
Define the areas in which university-business cooperation projects could be developed.
