Subprotesis stomatitis is a little known alteration with that name and should be separated from the term Inflammatory Papillary Hyperplasia to designate the pathological changes of buccal mucosa in the support area of the complete to renewable denture. The purpose of this study was to establish in the presence of subpratesis stomatitis, in addition to relating this finding with the sex of the patients and their stage of evolution according to Newton's classification. Likewise, its appearance was related to patients' oral hygiene, as well as the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and irritating foods. The results of the study showed that of 36 patients with total removable prostheses examined, 33 of them had stomatitis. The ages of these patients ranged from 50 to 70 years, with the female sex being the most affected. 30 prostheses were found in an unacceptable condition and males used them overnight. The majority of lesions were located in the anterior, middle and posterior part of the mouth. It is interesting that it does not represent a reason for dental consultation among older adults, but it is nonetheless one of the causes that reveal the state of the prostheses that these patients wear at the time of the examination, and constitutes one of the barriers to immediate prosthetic rehabilitation.
