This article seeks to make visible the environmental problems in El Salvador, a reality that affects a large part of the population, especially those who live in vulnerable areas. It analyzes how, through compliance with the right to education in matters of rights and the environment, it is possible to form citizens with environmental awareness, capable of becoming agents of change and playing an active role in protecting the environment. The objective is to present the perceptions of residents of an urban area about the environmental situation in the country and the way in which they exercise their rights. Likewise, it seeks to demonstrate the lack of knowledge about this reality and the lack of empathy towards the most vulnerable sectors. Many of these people live in areas classified as at risk, but are unaware, accept or simply do not try to transform their environment.
