The relevance of the writings of this sociologist and social psychologist was undeniable at the time of its publication (1963), when the world wasundergoing various structural social changes that highlighted the fragmentation observed in society (among these changes we can mention the construction of the Berlin Wall, the beginning of the Cold War, racial strife in the United States along with the rise of Dr. Luther King, the resurgence of the feminist movement after a period of uncertainty, among others).
