Abstract

In this paper the author and the author reflect on certain theoretical discussions that are presented in the human rights field. Focusing on the debates on philosophical foundations, historical evolution and the question of universality / relativism of human rights, the author and the author, critically analyze how the approach of these issues is configured from the current hegemonic perspective of eurocentrity / modernity. For each of these questions, they propose some outlets elaborated from decolonial thinking that allow the collective, plural and antihegemonic construction of our own notions of human rights from the historical needs of the peoples of the South.

Key words: Human rights, modernity, eurocentrity, relativism, universalism, criticism, centrality / periphery, history, hegemony.
