Viability and quality of distance education are directly related to teachers’ education. The aim of this article is to present the concept of distance education, discuss about teachers’ profiles, and show the main types of information and communication technologies that are being used by the teachers in this teaching modality. This is an exploratory study, based on both bibliographic research and the practical experience of the authors.
