Responsibility as a value in the formation of the Cuban doctor

Abstract

The formation process of students has acquired great importance in Cuban Universities. It is a continuous process aimed to achieve higher levels in the education of the professional, to obtain increasingly competent universities graduated, committed to their country and development, in correspondence with the necessities of each locality as the teaching of medicine. In this profession, the construction of values such as responsibility is basic. The humanistic nature suggested by the practice of medicine requires men and women who are completely identified with the health problems that occur in their community, country, and the world and they are fully available to provide their services and scientific knowledge when and under the conditions that are requested. Such a challenge can only be assumed and fulfilled by people with relevant moral qualities. The formation of moral values in general and in particular responsibility, cannot be work spontaneity, it is required then for the achievement of such an effort, to insert the student who is studying medicine in an educational context that is characterized by their academic, labor and research excellence.
