Importance of the Right of Access to Information

The right of access to public information is re-quired to guarantee the rights to freedom of opinion and expression contained in the Human Rights Universal Declaration of the United Nations Organization, as well as other declarations of human rights and many Constitutions from various countries; It is considered an instrument to promote citizen participation in public administration that without access to public information, there can be no effective political participation; access to information enables people to examine the actions of his Government and is a necessary basis for the informed debate on these actions.
From the adoption and entry into force of the Act on transparency and access to public information (LTAIP) and the creation of the Institute for access to public information (IAIP) as guarantor body for the implementation of the law, this right is expressly recognized in our secondary legislation.
