Abstract

The study on Femicide is of paramount legal and social importance, since the mere definition of the term is a priority, to prevent it from being used with indiscriminated and sensationalistic purposes by the media. In this work we try to demonstrate the need for Femicide to be typified as a criminal offense under the Criminal Code of Honduras. In creating this standard, the society would become more significantly aware on the protection from the state for women, causing a deterrent in individuals prone to commit violent acts against women, quenching the insecurity in this regard which has reached alarming levels of deaths in our country. It should be noted that this issue is comprised within the Research Axis with regard to security as a priority and Violence Research at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras.
