IMPACT OF CORRUPTION ON DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN HONDURAS

Corruption is a problem linked to the exercise of political power, so the purpose of the comprehensive and global analysis of this research - in addition to identifying the main factors that favor its reproduction-was to show that the reduction of the State’s capacity to improve Social progress and human rights is one of the social costs of corruption in Honduras and therefore this practice constitutes a systematic violation of the human rights of the Honduran population based on its characteristics and high social costs, making it necessary for the Honduran State adopts an effective policy in the fight against corruption with emphasis on respect for human rights.
In the development of this research, a mixed methodology was implemented consisting of the theoretical analysis of legal bibliographic sources and the statistical analysis of correlation and comparison of variables constructed from statistical indicators related to human rights, corruption and development prepared by the World Bank. Cingrandelli-Richards Human Rights Data Project (CIRI) and by the Social Fund for External Debt and Development in Honduras (FOSDEH).
