Abstract

The quality of life is the perception that an individual has of his place in the existence, context of the culture, value system in which he lives in relation to his objectives, expectations, norms and concerns. The objective of this article is to analyze the quality and living conditions in which the inhabitants of the El Rodeo neighborhood are located, in the City of El Paraíso, Department. Methodologically it is a study with a quantitative approach, its scope is descriptive and cross-sectional, the sample was intentionally selected consisting of 176 inhabitants. The main factor that triggers alarming conditions in the community is the obtaining of a monthly economic
income that oscillates between L. 500.00 - 1500.00 (47.2% of households), followed by illiteracy (44.45%), overcrowding (44.4%), elimination of excreta in the open air (30.6%), open hearth inside the house without chimney (52.8%), housing made with wastematerial (19%), dissatisfaction with the quality of life (41.7%). The perception of health-related quality of life in the study population
is unsatisfactory. An unfavorable trend is observed in some factors that we can consider as protectors for a better perception of the quality of life; inadequate household infrastructure, poor basic sanitation services, high economic dependence, and unemployment.
