The present study’s general objective is to analyze the association between the level of social capital, personal security and the sociodemographic characteristics of heads households from three communities in the municipality of Choloma, Cortés. A de[1]scriptive and relational research is proposed, since it estimates the degree of association between social capital and personal security, and between social capital and sociodemographic variables: sex, age, income, educational level, marital status and origin. The study made use of the database of the population and housing census carried out by the municipality of Choloma in the studied conglomer[1]ate. Its design is transversal, since it refers to the moment of collecting the information. Pearson’s Chi Square statistical test was used to test hypotheses. The analysis of the characteristics of the population and the dwelling was carried out with descriptive techniques. The social capital of the heads of household considered in the study in the Ceden, INFOP and April 11 neighborhoods, is associated with the levels of perception of personal security. However, social capital is not associated with all the sociodemographic variables of the study. In sum, the hypothesis of the study is partially accepted.
