Abstract

The objective is to analyze changes in family organization of Argentina, especially the importance of monoparental families observing the differences according to jurisdiction, in the period 1980-2010. The analysis indicates that in Argenti­na, between 1980 and 2010, (884.041 homes in 1980 and 2.099.549 homes in 2010) lone parent families increased 138%, accounting for 22,3% of the total marital homes. Considering only the female head, the data indicate that this increase was 158% and, in 2010, these households constituted 65% of the total marital home the female head.
