Development of Political Science in Latin America: the case of Honduras (period 1950-2022)

The following article consider tracing the path of Political Science in the Latin American region and, above all, updating its profile, its progress, and challenges, with particular reference to the Honduran context. Relevant research articles have been analyzed regarding the development of the discipline in Latin America; noticing a slow and weak growth caused mainly by the complex identity issue concerning political science as academic subject, its difficulties in conquering autonomy and independence, in addition to historical, social and political reasons that have slowed down the development process even more, in different ways depending on the country and context considered. In the case of Central America and particularly Honduras, serious limits have been highlighted that prevent constant and sustained progress in the matter. Therefore, it is important to reactivate the discipline, overcoming the various obstacles that have characterized its existence to date.
