University academic and occupational health. Importance of the psychosocial and sociodemographic variables, the case of a regional university center at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico

The objetive is analyse the presence of negative labor psychosocial factors percived by the professors and to determine what negative psychosocial factors of work are associated to Socio-demographic and work-related variables in this population. It is a transversal, correlational study, comprising all teachers of the campus. Three instruments were used: the socio-demographic and work-related questionnaire, the Scale of Psychosocial Factors in Academic Work and Scale of Stress Symptoms. Significant associations between psychosocial factors and socio-demographic and work-related variables exist, and health problems. This investigation contributes empirical facts about the characteristics and risks of academic work. It is very important to consider the periodic evaluations and efficient organizational changes.
