Projections, economically active populationAbstract
The objective of this paper is to make an Economically Active Population projection of the city of San Pedro Sula in Honduras from the period 2015 – 2030; serves as necessary input for the planning of economic and social development from two perspectives: as a producer population (labor force) and as a consumer of goods and services. It is very important to have projections by sex and age, in addition to the relevance in and of themselves, there are a series of disaggregated projections which provide useful city planning information and requires cities to derive more detailed plans for people’s basic needs (health, housing and education, among others) as well as determines the labor supply that will be available. On that bases they establish three variant projections, which in turn allow us to establish very different demographic perspectives. It establishes diverse trends in the economically active population of San Pedro Sula. Undoubtedly, this is a notable research contribution because it anticipates the size of the labor force, which is a crucial element in preparing medium-term development plans that ensure a rational use of labor resources.
