Like other Latin American countries, in Honduras, internal migration has played an important role, both in economic development and in the spatial distribution of the population and the urbanization of the country. However, here has been little interest in studying the magnitude and directionality of migratory flows, especially towards San Pedro Sula. In this way, the present work, in addition to characterizing the migrant population, the nonmigrant population, includes the typology of migrants (lifelong migrants and recent migrants), establishing comparisons between these groups based on their socio demographic characteristics; For which data from the Permanent Multiple Purpose Household Survey of May 2006 and 2013 are used. The methodology used consists of the use of the mean difference for independent samples and the hypothesis test using Student’s T. The results indicate that women are more likely to migrate and that natives count on average, with a higher educational level than migrants. In addition, they receive a salary average slightly higher than that obtained by the occupied migrant population.
