Abstract

El Porvenir is a municipality located in the department of Atlantida, Honduras. Since its origin economic activities have been linked to agriculture, especially small banana plantations; over time has developed an economic and social growth that has enabled it to diversify its economic and productive activities.Currently the main economic sectors of the municipality continues to be agriculture, especially related to export crops (pineapple, banana, citrus, oil palm.) Other activities are identified as livestock, beekeeping, forestry and fisheries whose production is oriented in its mostly for domestic consumption. Other economic activities with great potential in the tourism zone is mainly because the town has large areas of beach and protected areas as Pico Bonito National Park and Wildlife Refuge Cuero y Salado.
