Background and Objective: Ebola virus is a highly infectious and deadly disease. Ebola causes a deadly bleeding disease that represents one of the most dangerous epidemics unleashed in Africa. This situation leads to aggressive interventions by the World Health Organization (WHO) to try to halt its spread to other places. Causing death of 80-90% of cases. This virus is transmitted by direct physical contact with secretions from infected individuals and it spreads in outbreaks.
In the scenario of recent confirmed cases in the United States and in order to remain vigilant of its potencial impact on other countries like Honduras, our goal is to raise awareness and expand our knowledge about Ebola in health personals. Prevention and control measures of infections at the health care a services level are reviewed here. The consequences of further international spread are particularly serious because of its high virulence, easy transmission and weak health care centers/systems in affected countries.
Ebola is a very aggressive virus that has high fatality rates. The medical community must remain vigilant to such diseases. People should know about the nature of the disease and the necessary measures to contain outbreaks.
