Abstract

The ecological, social, economic and political crisis that the planet faces today is the result of the primacy of the mode of conquest and domination justified by the modern utopia of progress and unlimited prosperity over the principle of care, says Leonardo Boff (2004 ). Restoring this principle as the foundation of human coexistence implies rethinking the role of the school as the main socializing institution: learning to live in company implies learning to take care of oneself, to take care of others and to take care of the environment. This text is an essay on the foundation of coexistence in school from the beginning of care. The objective is to offer a series of approaches that motivate the discussion of management teams, teachers, students, families and community organizations about the way of coexistence that predominates in the local school.
