This article seeks to delve into the issue of distances or approximations that may exist between Marxist thought, commonly considered as Eurocentric, and the Latin American scenario. In this attempt, the dependent particularity of peripheral capitalism in Latin America is brought as an initial premise. It continues, delving into decolonial thinking, through the contribution of Aníbal Quijano, and the question of the coloniality of power, knowledge and being, which delimits the understanding of a racial division of labor in America, as a mechanism of colonialism and of capitalism. The possible elements of approximation between Marxist criticism and Latin America are addressed, establishing as a primary element of this approximation the anti-capitalist nature of both approaches.
