Abstract

In El Salvador, the beginnings of the transition to modernity coincided with a period characterized by the increase in the rate of population growth beginning in the 1930’s, militar governments were also taking power on the country by that time; in this context institutions such as the Institute of Urban Housing IVU (1950) and the Direction of Planning and Architecture DUA (1950), in order to respond to the growing housing deficit, integrating the interventions of the principles of modernist ideals, looking to meet human needs intrinsic necessities: individuality (Dignified Housing); freedom (schools, community centers, recreational parks, etc.); and universality (Urban Settlements /City).
