Abstract

Children's stories are a vehicle for communication and expression. Through stories, we can transmit culture and values, bringing children closer to the world around them. They are an excellent tool for sparking imagination, creativity, and enjoyment of reading. However, we fase challenges in finding literature that is relevant to children and that highlights themes specific to our Nicaraguan culture. The purpose of this article is to systematize the experience of applying a methodology for validating children's stories using a co-creation approach with the input of different experts, students, and teachers from different areas of knowledge at UNAN-Managua. The validation process was carried out in two stages. The first consisted of a technical and pedagogical review of the story, and the second took place in a school setting with 152 children and early childhood education teachers. Throughout the experience, qualitative techniques were used to collect, organize, and record information from the participants. The validated story was very well received, with the content, images, and impressions of the participating children being highlighted. According to the results, the validated story is relevant as it relates to experiential themes of childhood, and the length, illustrations, and content are appropriate for an audience of children between the ages of 3 and 6.
