Abstract

This article stems from research conducted to analyze the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as methodological tools to foster motivation in third-grade elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative approach, and data collection methods included interviews, observation, and focus groups with key informants such as the principal, teachers, and students. The analysis established categories related to perceptions, limitations, and benefits associated with technological integration in the educational process, as well as the factors influencing ICT use and the pedagogical and motivational contributions they offer. The findings indicate that, despite the recognition by teachers, administrators, and students of the importance of ICTs in education, their implementation in the classroom is minimal or nonexistent. The main causes are linked to a lack of technological resources, limited connectivity, and inadequate school facilities. This situation leads to traditional teaching methods that hinder meaningful learning and reduce student participation. Therefore, in this context, the TECMUND3 proposal was designed: an educational application focused on the subject of Natural Sciences, which aims to promote active, collaborative, and motivating learning through accessible digital resources adapted to the educational level.
