Abstract

Migraine is frequent in the pediatric and adolescent population. Migraine can have a substantial effect on the life of the child, as well as their family. There are many migraine variants that difficult the early diagnosis and delay their treatment. Researches show an increase prevalence of migraine and chronic migraine headache in childhood and adolescence and are described that the numerous variants and the comorbid disorders can interfere with the early recognition and the prognosis. An early recognition and therapy that include acute therapy, preventive therapy and biobehavioural therapy can improve the prognosis. Migraine in children is recognized as an important biosocial problem. Early recognition leads to an effective treatment and can prevent the disease progression. More researches are needed to define the pathophysiology and new therapeutic options.
