Violence in Honduras is particularly important because it is one of the countries in the Central American region that has come to agglutinate the different forms of violence exponentially, positioning itself as one of the countries with a high rate of violence. Given this scenario, the question I have asked myself is: what are the main causes and factors that make such a state of violence in the country possible? To answer this question I have decided to take as a research object the structural violence understood in terms of poverty, inequality and deprivation of fundamental rights, since the coup d’état happened on June 28, 2009, where direct violence was evident and institutional, condensed within the broad discourse of structural violence that have been articulating the Power Elites throughout the social and political history of Honduras. This discursive dimension of structural violence subsumed within the framework of State action will be analyzed through the “Discourse Theory” of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe.
