Management model for development in the Garifuna communities in Honduras

Abstract

With the aim of building a Management Model for Development in the Garifuna communities of Honduras, this research was conducted, taking into account that the approach of any process, phenomenon or problem requires all magnitudes to be understood, they can function as approaches such as glass through which to look at reality from a specific disciplinary logic, ie look at social, economic, terms of its own institutions and in environmental terms. Since this is typified as a descriptive research, a collection of information by visiting the Garifuna communities was conducted; conducting community and inter-community workshops and interviews with actors from different sectors, leaders and community leaders, and community organizations, municipal, regional and national influence, observing the processes and defining our place in them, taking the magnitudes of their own reality, learning the network of relationships and meanings of the environment, and interacting from talented people. The model interrelates the different operating entities (Local Organizations, The State, through its institutions, National Cooperative (NGOs, OPD’s, others) and International Cooperating), in different settings (Family, Community, County, Commonwealth Region); and magnitudes (institutional, social, economic and environmental) of reality that are meaningful in life and the reality of the Garifuna communities. A Development Model as this includes and promotes premises to influence policies that benefit the Garifuna communities of Honduras and contribute to reduce lag relative to the rest of the country.
