Latin American Journal of Peace and Conflict Studies is indexed in the following databases or systems of evaluation, dissemination or conservation:

The journal is a signatory of the DORA declaration and manages its publication through Open Journal Systems (OJS).

Focus and scope

The Latin American Journal of Peace and Conflict Studies is aimed at professionals, researchers, students, faculty and the general public interested in academic research related to the discipline of Peace and Conflict Studies. It is open to the publication of empirical, methodological or theoretical research articles from Latin America and internationally, as well as to the publication of research notes, academic essays based on solid theoretical and empirical bases, relevant experiences duly substantiated and book reviews.

The Journal advocates a plurality of epistemological perspectives and encourages authors to present articles from different theoretical or methodological approaches to explain phenomena of peace and conflict. The evaluation and selection of articles, research notes and bibliographic essays for publication are based on criteria of quality, originality, relevance and methodological consistency.

Objective

The journal aims to disseminate the results of scientific research, academic reflections and significant experiences that represent a contribution to the development of the discipline of Peace and Conflict Studies, from the various fields related to it, such as Social Sciences, Commercial Education and Law; Education; and Humanities and Arts; covering, for this purpose, a wide range of areas and topics: political science, sociology, anthropology, social psychology, research methodology, public opinion studies, demography, structure and social change, conflictology, international relations, security, human rights, education, philosophy, linguistics, religion, archaeology, literature, art, culture or sport.

Publishing institution and sponsoring Scientific Society (Co-editor).
The publishing institution of the journal is the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH), through the Peace Area of the Instituto Universitario en Democracia, Paz y Seguridad (IUDPAS - UNAH). The sponsoring Scientific Society and Co-editor of the journal is the Latin American Council for Peace Research (CLAIP) of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA).

  • The Peace Area is part of the efforts made by the University Institute on Democracy, Peace and Security contributing to the construction of peace, the non-violent transformation of conflicts and the minimization of direct, structural and cultural violence in Honduras and the region; and it is conceived as an open and transdiciplinary academic space of reflection and action for peace that develops the functions of "Training for peace", "Research for peace" and "Collective action for peace".   • The Latin American Council for Peace Research (CLAIP) is a Scientific Society made up of numerous Universities, Institutes, Research Units and specialists in the discipline of Latin American Peace and Conflict Studies. This organization was founded in 1977 in Mexico, within the framework of the General Conference of one of the most relevant international scientific societies in the discipline: the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) (promoted in the 1960s by the founding fathers of the discipline). Over the past 35 years, CLAIP has organized successive Peace Research Congresses in the Americas and participated in IPRA General Conferences around the world. In these Congresses and General Conferences, numerous academic papers of the highest quality have highlighted the value of scientific knowledge developed in the Americas and the Caribbean in relation to the discipline of Peace and Conflict Studies.
As a result of the collaboration agreement reached between the Peace Area of IUDPAS-UNAH and CLAIP in 2019, the Latin American Journal of Peace and Conflict Studies was founded as a tool to disseminate knowledge, research and proposals for peace in the American continent, and an international academic reference indexed in recognized databases in the scientific field.

Language
Papers are published in Spanish, Portuguese or English.

Frequency of publication
The journal is published every six months, with each annual volume consisting of two issues (1) January - June, and (2) July - December. The months established for the complete publication of each number are January (number 1) and July (number 2). The journal is in the process of adopting the continuous publication model, so those articles that positively complete the entire editorial process (acceptance after double blind peer review, editing and layout) could be published on the website of the journal immediately, integrating the corresponding issue.
The journal will also publish special issues with variable periodicity, defined according to need by the Editorial Team.

Open Access Policy

The journal is published in digital version, open and free access through https://www.lamjol.info/index.php/ReLaPaC/index,https://iudpas.unah.edu.hn/area-de-paz/revista-latinoamericana-estudios-de-la-paz-y-el-conflicto/ and the various databases in which it is included; reserving the possibility of making special editions in physical format.
This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle of free availability. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without requesting prior permission from the publisher or the author, in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access, which encourages a greater exchange of global knowledge.
The publication is free of charge to the authors.

The journal's contents are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0). This license allows third parties to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform and create from the material for any purpose, including commercial), as long as the authorship and first publication in this journal (Revista Latinoamericana Estudios de la Paz y el Conflicto, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras - Consejo Latinoamericano de Investigación para la Paz, DOI of the work) is acknowledged, a link to the license is provided and it is indicated if changes have been made to the original. The terms of the license are available online at http://creativecommons.org.

Authors grant the journal non-exclusive exploitation rights (reproduction, distribution, public communication and transformation) and grant the journal the right of first publication of their work, which will be simultaneously subject to the indicated license. Authors may establish other additional agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in the journal, provided that there is an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

For the purposes of Article 10 of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights of the Republic of Honduras and Article 3, numeral 2 of the Regulations on Intellectual Property of the UNAH: "Principle of good faith", the publication of a work that violates such rights shall be the responsibility of the author. The Editorial Team of the Revista Latinoamericana Estudios de la Paz y el Conflicto is not responsible, in any case, for the credibility and authenticity of the works. Similarly, the opinions and facts expressed in each article are the sole responsibility of their authors and the Revista Latinoamericana Estudios de la Paz y el Conflicto does not necessarily identify with them.

The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras will collect data from the users of this journal for the proper management, editing and dissemination of scientific articles. To this end, the necessary information is collected for communication with those involved in the editorial process, authorship and content editing, as well as, to keep registered readers informed. Within the framework of the mentioned treatments, your data will not be transferred to third parties, unless legally obliged to do so.

Confidentiality in the treatment of identity
The identity of the author(s) who submit(s) a manuscript for evaluation and possible publication will be preserved by the Director, and all members of the Editorial Committee while the manuscript is being published, and will not be disclosed in the event that the article is rejected.
The names and e-mail addresses entered in the Journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated by this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other person.

Confidentiality in the treatment of manuscripts
Manuscripts, while in the process of review/evaluation, will not be used at any time and under any circumstances by any agent involved in the process, until, if applicable, it is published.
Manuscripts rejected for publication will be archived in the journal's Manuscript History, and under no circumstances will they be used by any member of the journal.
