Abstract

Between 2009 and 2019 two governments of the former guerrilla of the FMLN succeeded each other in El Salvador. Nevertheless, a decade after of defeating the traditional political apparatus of the Salvadoran hegemonic capital, the FMLN was displaced to a third position by a new right-wing political formation. The purpose of this article is to analyze the factors that produced the electoral
triumphs of the left party in 2009 and 2014 and those that led to its defeating in 2019.
