School coexistence as a process associated with civic education and values, raises the establishment of solid human ties, in which each individual, assuming responsibility and aware of their behavior, tries to model their behavior based on recognizing the worth of their peers, the protection of their integrity, the protection of dignity and respect for the rights that assist the Other, as principles that, due to their implications, are understood as mediators of coexistence. This research, as a result of a documentary review, integrates the voices of various authors around school coexistence, an inherent challenge in education that involves the commitment to the construction of peaceful and harmonious spaces that, being mediated by mutual recognition, enables the performance autonomous and free of those who live in the educational institution. The discussion of these theoretical and practical contributions makes it possible to determine that school coexistence demands to involve democratic values that, in addition to underpinning the acceptance of pluralism, make possible cohesion in diversity, that is, the establishment of bridges of understanding and reconciliation that reinforce cohabitation both fair and attached to the common good. It is concluded that school life, due to its dynamism and conflict, requires the claim of solidarity, positive freedom and peace, as universal values that, together with revitalizing the sense of citizenship, add to the praxis of social justice as a way of life.
