This article presents a critical analysis of the prison crisis in Honduras, exploring its historical and structural causes. Using an interdisciplinary approach, it identifies factors such as corruption, militarization and lack of investment in rehabilitation as the main drivers of prison violence and human rights violations. The findings of this research underscore the urgent need to reform the Honduran prison system, adopting a human rights-based approach and promoting social reintegration. This study stands as a significant contribution to the field of penitentiary and public security studies, providing a solid foundation for future research and public policy.
