The objective of this article is to systematize the experience of articulating teaching with the extension between the Alternative Tourism Management course that was taught in the Business Mana-gement of Sustainable Tourism career of the Nicoya Campus, Chorotega Regional Headquarters in 2022 and the FUNDER Turismo project as a strategy for economic reactivation and promotion of sustainable local development in the communities of the Gulf of Nicoya. Through qualitative research, the aim is to demonstrate the achievements and learning for the student body in the design of tourist routes in the Venado and Chira Islands of the Gulf of Nicoya.
