Patient satisfaction with the psychological care service of a university clinic

Introduction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the mental health of Salvadorans was affected for various reasons. Some people with psychological distress seek care in a specialized mental health clinic, therefore, it is important to verify the satisfaction of the patient when receiving the service and assess the perception in relation to the therapist who works in said clinic.
Objective. To evaluate the satisfaction of patients with the service of a university psychological care clinic in El Salvador.
Methodology. Analytical and retrospective cross-sectional study; the type of sampling was non-probabilistic of the intentional type. 199 patients were evaluated. The data collection technique was the digital survey applied on the Google Forms platform.
Results. Most of the participants were women (77,1 %). The mean general age was 26.5 years. 68 %
had received more than 5 consultations at the clinic. Depression and anxiety as the frequent reason (36,5 %), followed by interpersonal problems and low self-esteem (35,2 %). Patients are satisfied with the services provided by the Psychology Clinic (≥95 %). The level of satisfaction is based on the kindness and handling provided by the therapist. There are no statistical differences in patient satisfaction based on gender, age and the number of consultations received.
Conclusion. Patients are satisfied with the service they have received at the Psychology Clinic.
