Objective. Estimate the burden of Non Communicable Diseases mortality in the population greater than or equal to 20 years in El Salvador, through the main mortality indicators. Methodology. A ecological study of deaths by Non Communicable Diseases registered in the vital statistics module of Sistema de Información de Morbimortalidad en la Web was carried out. Demographic variables were analyzed and mortality rates, premature mortality, and potential years of life lost, were calculated. In addition, the data is represented through national distribution maps. Results. During 2011-2015 there were 48554 deaths due to Non Communicable Diseases. The diseases that caused most deaths in men were Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease and cancer, and in women, Cardiovascular Disease, cancer and Chronic Kidney Disease. More potential years of life lost were lost due to Chronic Kidney Disease, followed by Cardiovascular Disease and in third place, cancer. Non Communicable Diseases were distributed in a similar manner throughout the country, except deaths due to Chronic Kidney Disease, which were concentrated in the eastern region. Conclusions. Throughout 2011-2015 all mortality rates due to Non Communicable Diseases increased, Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease and cancer were those with the highest rates of general and premature mortality. Chronic Kidney Disease was the cause of the greatest loss of potential years of life lost in general.
