Caracterización clínica epidemiológica de los primeros casos zika en El Salvador, 2015-2016.

Abstratc
Objective. To describe the clinical presentation and epidemiology of the first cases of Zika virus infection in the adult population. Methodology. In the period from November 2015 to February 2016, two hospitals in San Salvador, El Salvador are were chosen with the largest reports of cases of suspected Zika, a file was created to collect epidemiological and clinical information from the clinical files of suspected cases. Serum samples were taken and processed by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results.We identified 102 suspected
cases of Zika, of which 35 were confirmed by molecular tests. The 60% were male with an average age of 39.9 ± 8.6 years. The clinical picture in the confirmed patients was characterized by rash, fever in 90% of the cases. Itchy and polyarthralgia 80% of cases. The type of rash was maculopapular and generalized without a pattern of progression in 80% of the cases. Conclusions. The presence of Zika virus was confirmed in one third of the suspected patients and the clinical picture was characterized by symptoms: fever, generalized
maculopapular rash and itchy.
