Duties of the Editorial Team
Editorial Board
Editor-in-Chief
Responsible for directing, managing, and supervising the publications of Arquitectura +, as well as ensuring the quality and coherence of its content.
Functions:
- Ensures scientific and editorial quality
- Establishes editorial policies jointly with the Editorial Board
- Reviews and evaluates submitted manuscripts to verify compliance with editorial policies
- Develops a tracking schedule for submitted manuscripts
- Prepares observations/recommendations to improve manuscript quality
- Assigns peer reviewers according to thematic areas
- Maintains communication between authors and reviewers, including responding to inquiries, providing guidance, and offering feedback
- Edits and reviews article writing in accordance with APA style guidelines
- Reviews final manuscript versions for approval or rejection
- Convenes and chairs Editorial Board meetings to coordinate responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a database of peer reviewers
- Ensures compliance with ethical and quality standards
- Appoints committees to address ethical issues or incidents related to submitted or published works
- Contacts indexing databases to achieve and maintain journal indexing
- Establishes dissemination and promotion strategies for the journal
- Participates in conferences and events to enhance journal visibility
- Collaborates with other institutions and journals to increase visibility and impact
- Prepares and presents semiannual reports to the Editorial Board
Associate Editor
Supports the Editor-in-Chief in the administration, publication, and production of journal content.
Functions:
- Substitutes for the Editor-in-Chief when necessary due to justified reasons
- Advises the Editorial Board on scientific and research matters
- Decides jointly with the Editor-in-Chief whether submissions proceed to peer review or are rejected
- Proposes measures and actions for journal development
- Ensures compliance with scientific and ethical standards
- Oversees, in coordination with the Editor-in-Chief, thematic relevance and overall rigor of published content
- Invites distinguished authors to contribute to journal sections
- Participates in the planning of special issues
Editorial Translator
Responsible for translating content from Spanish to English in order to broaden audience reach.
Functions:
- Translates texts from one language to another
- Adapts content to the target audience
- Reviews and edits translated texts
- Preserves the author’s message and intent
Scientific Committee
Responsible for evaluating the quality and relevance of content to be published.
Functions:
- Maintains fluid communication with the Editor-in-Chief regarding assigned reviews
- Evaluates manuscripts submitted by the editorial team
- Assesses originality and identifies contributions to the field
- Verifies proper citation of sources
- Provides recommendations for rejection, revision, or acceptance
- Delivers constructive feedback
- Adheres to the journal’s ethical standards
- Submits review reports to the Editor-in-Chief in a timely manner
- Proposes specific thematic topics for the journal
- Suggests authors and materials for future issues
