¿Por qué fracasó la política exterior de la primera administración Reagan hacia El Salvador?

Ronald Reagan, expresidente de los EE. UU., implementó una política exterior militarista, para tratar de solucionar en El Salvador un problema crónico que no era de carácter militar. En este trabajo se demostrará que, en su óptica, cualquier solución negociada era sinónimo de derrota para los EE. UU. La única solución aceptable para Reagan era la derrota militar de los insurgentes y el derrocamiento de los sandinistas en Nicaragua. De acuerdo a Reagan, las causas de los conflictos centroamericanos no eran domésticas, sino exportadas por el comunismo internacional. Eso, en su opinión, ponía en riesgo la seguridad nacional de su país y esta tenía que primar sobre cualquier ley internacional y a cualquier costo.
