This essay tries to reflect in a more iconic way the educational events in the historical evolution of El Salvador; it is a generic and revisionist analysis as a preamble, which gives guidelines to understand the problems of the present.
In this context and from this perspective, we can observe the imperialist influences of conquering and colonial Spain (sword and cross), and of the United States with its utilitarian and pragmatic hegemonic attempts; likewise, some milestones and topics of Salvadoran education are described in the first half of the 20th century.
Undoubtedly the Spanish and American influences, respectively, have had a significant impact on our national educational system; subject that must be studied and analyzed to understand the current events.
In effect, as Bloch affirmed "the incomprehension of the present, is born finally of the ignorance of the past".
